Term for hair loss due to chemo treatments?

There is no term for hair loss caused by chemo treatments. Hair loss from chemo is a short term side effect. Hair grows back once chemotherapy stops.

There is a huge amount of confusion by the public who donate their hair to kids with Alopecia areata (locks of love). Unfortunately, the public believes that they are donating their hair for children with cancer who have lost their hair from chemotherapy treatments. But that is not true. Only 3 percent of all hair donations go to wigs for kids with cancer, because chemotherapy is a short term hair loss only. Wigs are given only to children who have long term or permanent hair loss. So 98 percent of all hair that is donated goes for kids with burns or a condition called Alopecia areata. That is an autoimmune condition where kids or adults lose their body hair. It is not cancer.

"Alopecia areata is a disease that affects the hair follicles, which are part of the skin from which hairs grow. In most cases, hair falls out in small, round patches about the size of a quarter." It is not a deadly disease and a person is not sick. It is a cosmetic disease that affects people psycologically because they've lost their hair.
