My hair is growing back from 4 chemo treatments finished about 2 mos. ago but recently my eyebrows,l

are thinning after the fact while other hair all over is growing? This is confusing to me. I'm in week 4 of radiation %26amp; the onocologist said radiation would not be causing this unless she were treating that specific area so what is causing this?

I myself am a cancer patient, and have undergone chemotherapy (finished 2 months ago as well), and just finished five weeks of radiation. From what i have learned, chemotherapy stops working after you finish it, where as radiation continues to attack the cells for 1-2 weeks after you finish radiation. So i do not think that this is related to the chemotherapy. My eyelashes, eyebrows, etc have started growing back. Granted, different drugs affect differently. I would perhaps bring this up with your oncologist and ask them. And it is true, radiation only affects the area radiated, and would not cause the hairloss or thinning if it is not in that area.

still reacting to the chemo no doubt....they will grow back...good luck and hope your treatments are successful

It can take a long time for hair to come back in a recognizable fashion. My head hair took close to a year to start feeling like human, not doll, hair. My eyelashes are much shorter %26amp; sparser, too. The upside is that almost all other body hair came back in very small amounts - no arm hair to speak of, leg hair in a strip about an inch wide and 5 inches long, etc. We all react differnently to the chemo - give it some time. It may take several months to get a feel for what will be your post-chemo hair norm.

I do not know what causes this but here is my experience. When my hair returned after 8 sessions of chemo , it did not return as thick as prior to chemo. Six weeks of radiation did not seem to make any difference in anyway. I finally started taking a supplement for hair, skin and nails that contains coQ10 and N.A.C. ultra-high levels of biotin , soluble organic silicon and M.S.M. After taking this for about 12 weeks I can see an improvement in the thickness of my hair as well as growing faster. It is put out by Procaps Laboratories http://www.procapslabs.com/PCL/Pages/Pro... You can also find something similar in a health store or pharmacy. I tried the liquid form from a health store but found it difficult to drink without covering the taste up with something strong like cranberry juice and it still tasted terrible.
