Will Neutrogena's T-Gel Dandruff shampoo strip artificial hair color?

My doctor told me to try T-Gel (awful smell but seems to help my scalp). I purchased the Loreal Preference hair color, but am not sure if I should color my hair around the time of treatments with T-Gel. (By the way, I've never had a problem with hair color irritating my scalp.)

T-Gel is an okay scalp treatment.

However, it will not complete strip the color, but it may

alter it a bit. ( May remove a little)

There is also a shampoo know as, Poly-Tar shampoo,

found over the counter and your hair dresser, could

order you one that without a doubt will not strip you hair.

A bottle 6-8 oz. will cost you approx. $6.-$8.00.

T-Gel is not to be used every time one shampoos, or at least I would not recommend it.

Alternate every other shampoo with a shampoo for color treated hair and conditioner.

Take Care of it if you are coloring it.

I would wait until you are done with your treatment, usually just any normal shampoo will fade hair dye overtime, and that T-Gel is so strong..I've used that before, so just try to hold out until you are done. :)

I use Neutrogena T Gel, and it is not color friendly at all. It does work on scalp irritations though.

No the only shampoo that will is "Preal".

I have been doing hair for over 30 years. I think by now I know a few things about hair.

Try coloring after you treat your scalp. Any washing of the hair will fade hair color, not necessarily "strip" color.Hair is made of microscopic layers called ''cuticles''. As we apply chemicals, heat or hot water, those cuticles open up. Your hair is then able to take in or release what ever you put on it. Use warm water to wash and cool to rinse. T-gel is for dandruff , it's really for the scalp not the hair, so depending on the length of your hair, don't scrub . Scrub enough to lather the shampoo and let it rest a while so it does it's job.
