Can laser target hair removal and hyperpigmentation at the same time?

Laser treatments cure hyperpigmentation as well as hair reduction. Can both be achieved in same sittings?

No because they use different laser wavelengths. The way that a laser works is that a specific wavelength is used that will be absorbed by the color of the lesion (pigment) that you want to get rid of. Though lasers can be somewhat tunable for different wavelengths, typically most hair removal lasers are set for the black pigment that is introduced into the hair follicle while the removal of hyperpigmentation requires fine tuning of a laser that has a wavelength similar to the lesion being treated.

I think laser treatments can cause hyper-pigmentation IF you are getting it done for hair removal. It depends on your skin tone. I had my bikini area done and they were very adamant about me NOT going in the sun (like I was going to tan that area anyways) but my skin did get a bit darker regardless. So no, I do not think you can achieve both in one treatment but they make new advances all the time.

I think a different laser type is used for each treatment but you may want to double check with a laser center in your area.

LOL @ previous answerer who was told not to tan her bikini area!
