Hi I am 6 weeks preg. and I have a hair appointment next week to get a japanese straightening treatment (straight perm) on my hair, will this hurt my baby ???

yea it is okay to do so. when u're getting a perm, make sure u are in a well vented area though

depends on what hair ya straightening...i wouldnt put those hot tongs between ya legs,go for a brazilian instead!!!!heehee!!

they say not to get your hair done or dyed during pregnancy.. but I dyed my own hair throughout my pregnancy.

Their biggest fear is how the strong chemicals that you breathe in while getting it done will affect your baby.

I suggest wearing a mask, you can get these at the dollar store or at walmart, while getting your hair done. This will greatly reduce you breathing in the strong chemicals that salons use.

Other than that, go ahead. You need to prim yourself up every now and then!

In most cases I think that doctors do NOT recommend it in the first trimester as it can be harmful to the baby if certain checmicals are being used. The best thing to do would be to check with the person doing your hair and then talk to your doctor about the checmicals whether they are harmful to the baby or not? Good luck with baby!

I suggest that you hold it off for the moment, you cannot be too sure of the chemicals they might use, enjoy the curls for now. I have not heard of an all-natural or organic hair straightener at local salons from where I am from :) I have naturally straight hair cos I am asian, believe me sometimes I wish I was curly.

there is no harm to your baby. the reason they say not to do anything to your hair during pregnancy is because all of the raging hormones make it hard for anything to stay in ur hair. so, ur hair might not take the way it normally would when ur not preggo.
