My hair is thinning out?

I'm worried. My hair is the thinnest it has ever been. I do lose a little hair (a few strands) everytime I shampoo/condition my hair, but lately I noticed how thin it really is. It has thinned out over the years, and I'm not sure if it's due to coloring treatments or age (I'm 23). I'm worried that by this time next year, I will have almost nothing left. When I do style my hair, it looks a lot thicker than it is. I was thinking about hair extentions..not to add to the length, but to add to the width. Are there any products out there to help my hair grow thicker? I'm taking prenatal vitamens because I was told they'd make my hair grow stronger (due to the iron). Thanks!

Blow drying, treating your hair with color and other things damage your hair. Your hair might be more sensitive than other peoples.

When washing your hair try to be gentle. It is normal to lose hair though.

Don't style your hair or do things to it that are unnatural.

There are shampoos that strenghtens your hair. check up on that at the store! I believe Pantene Pro-V has it. Thats the shampoo I use. Goodluck

there are volumizing creams and things, but I dont think this would help for your problem. I would suggest to go see a hair stylist or even a doctor about it. They might know what to do.

I have had thinning hair for years. I was using rogaine everyday (twice a day) and it didn't work. I went to a dermatologist and she sent me for lab work to rule out various things (i.e. thyroid disease). After that she was able to treat it. Good Luck!!!

I have a few friends who have same probs, research on fruits and veggies that you can eat to help, and ask a professional hairdress what products to use, I know there are scalp treatments, you could also save up for the future to have surgery. try not to wash and blowdry to often. Keep the vitamins up!

You might be blow drying it/coloring or flat ironing it too much. Limit doing that to maybe once a week. And you might be washing it too much so wash it every other day or so. Try getting a damaged hair shampoo too.

Is your hair breaking off? Can you see a lot of short hairs? Or, is it falling out at the root, like where you can see more of your scalp than before? If you think it's breaking off, it could be from styling damage. If it's truly thinning, you might need to check with your doctor to rule out thyroid disease, stress, hormone imbalance, etc.. You're very young to experience genetically thinning hairloss, but usually this type of hairloss is concentrated on the top and crown areas ( not really affecting the back). After you've ruled out any medical issue, you can try several things: Rogaine, thickening shampoos and styling aids, a laser comb (can make hair look thicker after several weeks of use). Extensions might not work unless your thinning hair is mostly in the back. Coloring your hair or styling it won't make it fall out unless you're going to extremes. It's probably safe to keep doing these as long as you're taking care of your hair. Stick with the vitamins, and make an appt. with your doctor soon!

Apply the white of a raw egg on the hair for 30 minutes, and then wash it off with a shampoo. A mixture of lemon juice and egg white and oil massage could also be used to strengthen the roots of

hair. More remedies at http://hairthinning.org/ will prevent further problems.
